Dr. Ikossi completed her MD, with distinction, at The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC in 2001 and moved to the California to begin her surgical training at Stanford University Medical Center. During her residency, she was awarded a position on the NIH/NRSA Trauma Training Grant at the University of California, San Francisco where she did 2 years of intensive research on topics ranging from resuscitation of the critically injured patient, to deep venous thrombosis, to trauma in pregnancy. This research lead to several peer reviewed publications and national presentations. Dr Ikossi also served as an instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) for several years thereafter.
Dr. Ikossi returned to Stanford to complete her General Surgery Residency, serving as the inaugural “Education Chief Resident”. She remained at Stanford for an additional year of fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery and also served as a Staff Surgeon at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. This experience was invaluable to her training as a surgeon and her experience as a physician. She has since undertaken additional training in Robotic Surgery which she has incorporated into her minimally invasive surgery practice.
From 2009-2022, Dr. Ikossi had the privilege of practicing general surgery in San Jose, California, specializing in laparoscopic and robotic techniques, and also performing acute care surgery. Her practice was within a multispecialty group, and operations were performed at Good Samaritan Hospital, El Camino Los Gatos Hospital, O’Connor Hospital and several surgery centers.
In 2022, she relocated Cyprus to support family. She has had the privilege of joining the faculty of the University of Nicosia Medical School and contributing as Program Director of the new Graduate Entry Medical School. She also has the pleasure of joining the team at the University of Nicosia Medical Centre where she sees patients clinically. Dr. Ikossi has privileges to operate at Aretaeio Hospital, Nicosia Polyclinic, and The American Medical Center.
Dr. Ikossi is licensed by the Medical Board of California, USA and the Medical Council of The Republic of Cyprus. She is Board Certified in General Surgery by The American Board of Surgery and is proud to be a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ikossi participates in the GESY of Cyprus and can also see foreign nationals.
